| I think there are a few of us here taking Soul restoration and it has got me looking more and more at Art Journalling. I LOVE the style of it - although it is SOOOO not me...Im a clean and simple girl - and I want to try it but Im really struggling...
Went and picked up some books today on the topic - not for the class but for me cause I'd really like to start doing it for me...
do any of you keep an art journal? |

| I have kinda started one. I enjoyed it and really liked the freedom of it. It was kinda cool just gathering things I liked and making something out of it. Now I am sure its not magazine perfect but I like it! |

| I love art journaling although I haven't done too much of it. I love the freedom of it. You're making me want to get all my stuff out and play in it! |

| Aren't you LOVING Soul Restoration?? Amazing! Yes, I'm really enjoying the art journaling. I actually started doing this last year after attending a class that Donna Downey held on Art Journaling. So fun, and I love the way a page is short, sweet and complete! See you around brave girls! |

| I've no clue what art journaling is, but I can take a guess. I did buy myself a large blank journal that I've been filling with pictures, words, drawings, and so on .... I'm guessing that is an art journal? I have a local friend that is doing the soul restoration and she loves it. She has been in several of my journaling classes, so it is fun to see her growth. |

| I used to do it some with Rachel Whetzel's One Year Art Journal site....but kinda got out of it for a while. I really want to get back into doing one. It just opens up my creativity so much more and you can be so free and not care about making mistakes, b/c sometimes those mistakes are what turn into genius...so even if you don't feel like you are doing a great job at it, as with anything just keep doing it and practicing and you'll grow in it!! |

| Hi girlies!!!! (I had a migraine and then I think I got food poisoning, eek!!! So I'm here now to help out) Yes, I've got lots of advice for art journaling. First, Cloth Paper Scissors is a great resource for art journaling. Here are some videos and articles they have that will help you for free at http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=&=&q=cloth+paper+scissors+art+journaling&btnG=Google+Search&aq=f&oq= I also have a friend teaching an art journal class that you can join in at any time at deviantscrap.com, look for sherriejd's art journal class Here are some of my art journal pages, they are more experimentation than finished pages for framing *this is a scrappy art journal http://julieannshahin.blogspot.com/2010/08/summer-of-love-2010.html *my Wreck This Journal art journal http://julieannshahin.blogspot.com/2009/11/yesterday-i-worked-for-hours-on-our-new.html *art journals with painting *canvas mini-album art journal http://julieannshahin.blogspot.com/2009/09/have-you-seen-canvas-mini-albums-from-c.html and perhaps one of the best resources is Tracy Batista's new art journaling daily posts here: http://kollaj.typepad.com/kollaj/art-journaling-daily.html |

Art journaling is keeping a journal, and perhaps using creative prompts or your own ideas to pull together creative ideas any way you want. You can use whatever medium you want, and mix mediums as well...such as paint, oil pastels, pens, inks, etc. It's more about expression than about the end result.
I saw on another site a list of recommended books compiled by an artist named Tammy.... Get some creative books for inspiration and motivation
