PostSubject: Any Blogger Experts Here?   January 28th 2011, 23:39

Hey! I'm hoping some of you techy girls can help me out! I started changing my blog around -- wanting to update it, change up the look a bit... Well, I got it so out of sorts that it was pathetic. I spent around 3 hours trying to change the background and position everything correctly and could never get it right. The thing it's doing when I try to add a new background (for example, one with a banner at the top) the background is loaded, but the top entire width of it stays all white, thus not showing the cute banner. (Below that white area, you will then see the lower part of the new background, but not up at the top.) I've gone under "advance settings" and have changed everything I can think of... I've finally got it a bit back together for now, but really want to get a new background on there WITHOUT the white blocked off area at the top. Any suggestions?? (Because I'm sure this is clear as mud - lol!)

(I hope Ellen reads this... she's the computer wizard!!!)

Thanks so much!!

Wow Tracy, I've done a lot of work on blogger but I've never seen that happen. But I've also never added a background that has the header on it. I've done backgrounds with a separate header added in the header section. Is that what I'm understanding? Your background has the header on it?

I'm happy to help if I can (although I am NOT an expert! LOL)

yikes not me.... I actually am having Kristina Proffit redo the FTLOA Blog as we speak.

If I had to guess I would recommend going in to the advance setting and templates. Once in there there is a section that will let you choose and rest the dimensions and width of your page.

I am on my mini tonight but will check tomorrow on my computer and see for sure.

Loving what I see so far.... cute cupcake !

xoxo

Well, in an effort to get some input from you girls who know what you're doing (unlike me!) I actually signed out of my blog just now and left it looking all crazy, just to show you what I mean. (Sheri, maybe when you see it, you'll understand what I was trying to explain... It's hard to type what it's doing - ha!) I tried to add a cute background from shabby blogs, (back ground is called Polly Esther if you want to see what I'm talking about) and when added, the top part of the blog stays white and cuts off the cute little circles that are supposed to be at the top of the blog. I changed so many settings earlier over at the advanced section, I've really screwed it up, somehow!

Sorry for so many specifics! just thought this might help!

Thanks, guys, for any assistance! (And I bet Renee is getting her much needed sleep for that little baby... Hopefully she'll be here tomorrow! Nothing like me begging, Renee!!) This is for you Renee:

Well Renee, I'm sorry but I don't know what that is. I don't think it has anything to do with your header because your header only fills in the center part of your blog. It looks like its something in the settings that is whiting out that section but I'm not sure what.

I guess you've tried to reload it already and it hasn't worked?

Sorry, wish I could help!

Sheri, how do you reload it? It's almost like it's a glitch or something. Thanks so much! (Sorry to keep asking you questions!!)

Well, the Shabby Blogs background seems to be the problem for me. I got another background to load just fine. Oh well... It's not exactly what I initially had in mind, but I like it anyway! Kind of Springy! Thanks Ladies for your help and tips!

first of all, that cupcake maker looks like a very fun kitchen gadget! we love cupcakes here. Smile

I use blogger- but I upload my backgrounds and headers separately. It is easier for me that way. Do you use the new template designer on blogger? omg it is so much easier than trying to redo all the html stuff.

Kristi,

Your blog is very nice! (Love the post about color combinations! Very inspiring!) Yes, I do use the blogger template, but then where do you get your backgrounds and headers from? Just curious, and trying to figure this all out...

Yes, we love cupcakes around here, too! In fact, I could use one right about now! Wink

Hi Tracy, when I said reload, I just meant basically re-doing it. Sounds like you got it working though, must have been the coding in the background you selected.

I just checked out your blog and I love it! So cute. The background is great and I love your font choice! Good job!

If I can be of any other help, let me know!

Tracy I make my own backgrounds and headers with photos I've taken and various digital elements (and always give credit to the digital designers when I use their stuff)
but at the moment I just have some sky photos I took, resized them and that's all! I added text in photoshop.
