PostSubject: Present for Hubby   March 3rd 2011, 18:51

I can share this since my hubby will never see it here .. Smile

I got him a NOOK Color for his birthday on Sunday. He's been researching those things since Christmas. I'm not sure if he'll be surprised, but I know he'll love it.

I'm the opposite, I like to hold real life books and magazines when I read, so I don't think I'd like it. I guess I'm old fashioned. Smile

do any of you have the NOOK?

i have a kindle which i love. i didn't think i'd not like holding a book in my hand. BUT i love my kindle. i've taken to traveling with dh and was carrying up to 10 books (i read alot) well those 10 books are a lot easier on a kindle. AND IT does track how far you are into a book. % wise. so you know when you're getting to the end which is cool.

he's gonna love it. i hear on the nook you can share books - so if you get one, and read the same stuff. bonus!!!

What a great gift! I want one of those. I read on my iphone, but I've been eyeing the Nook color for awhile now!

I have wanted one for a while too - I love books/magazines in my hands...but, the convenience of the Nook sounds wonderful. I have the Kindle for my iPhone - and I was able to download an e-book that wasn't available in book form - so, that's a huuuuge plus!

How sweet and thoughtful of you Carrie...I bet he is going to love it!!

I know lots of friends & family who have an electronic reader of one sort or another but as much as I like technology I can't seem to need/want one of these. I LOVE looking, feeling and holding new books. I love the smell of them... and my most favourite thing to do is go to Chapters/Indigo and spend my time browsing....I couldn't imagine for me replacing that with an electronic version.....

...but with that being said...I am eyeing the new iPad....LOL!

that is very sweet and thoughtful Carrie! I'm sure he will love it.

I am on the fence about one. On one hand it'd be great to have one so I can have books at the ease of my fingertips but like you, I LOVE to hold the book with my hands and turn the pages. I don't know if I'd want to give that up - but I will never say never!

I just talked to my daughter's 3rd grade teacher about this. She had told her husband she didn't want one but he bought her one anyway... and she LOVES it. She's so glad he didn't listen to her. I'm on the fence too... I find lots of awesome books at garage sales for $1.00 or less, usually .25 cents. What's the average price of a book?
