PostSubject: Slice anyone?   May 20th 2011, 14:20

I was just wondering if anyone here has the Slice die cutter? I've been considering investing in one because I just love how small and compact it is. Although I have the Cricut (sometimes too big for just cutting something small) and I have the Cuttlebug (which I love).

I've seen some of the great diecuts you can get with the Slice and just wondering if it's worth the investment. Any input?

I've thought about the Slice too for the same reasons. I've never heard someones opinion that had one. I'm anxious for some feedback too.

I have a slice, and I really like it!

and why is that, you ask?

well.

1. It is easy enough to use that my 6 year old has claimed it as her own.
2. She has covered my fridge with the magnets she has created with the teen stuff she has cut out with it.
3. I have LIMITED scrap space and it fits easily in with my little desk.
4. I can pick exactly where I want the hole cut on my paper and it comes out nicely.
5. Its cute.
6. I like that I don't have to have a whole 12 inch piece of paper to use with it.

BUT.

there was sort of a learning curve... figuring out how to know where the thing would cut was a pain. But once I became a 'slice whisperer' it was all good.

I really want the hands free thing though. I don't have that yet.

i tried out the Slice when i was at a holiday crop last fall at archivers. i found it difficult to figure out and get the hang of it ... although i will admit that i'm pretty mechanically challeged.

it is truly difficult to figure out just where it is going to cut, but the actual function is pretty simple- Carrie you'd totally get it if you scrapped with me Smile
my little girl uses it all the time.
but she doesn't get precise with it... I have to cut out the squares for her to put on the glass cutter base and then she just picks designs she likes and holds the thing down and lets it cut.

I love mine when it works right but I've had some trouble with changing the blade and getting it at the right cutting level. I also have to cut through cardstock twice before it will make a clean cut.
