Do you allow your kids to hang posters in their rooms? Or, if your kiddos are too little to be into that yet, do you think you would allow them?

In our last house my daughter had posters all over... they were mostly animal posters, and a few of Selena Gomez or Taylor (can't remember his name.. from Twilight)... but they distracted from her otherwise really nice decor, and I found it made her room messy looking.

At this house, she was allowed to put one large poster on her wall, and then I bought her an over-sized bulletin board to put above her desk, and she is limited to sticking things up on that.

She seems okay with the compromise, and her room looks so much better!

I remember hanging posters on my walls when I was young. Carley started hanging Justin Bieber on her wall just a couple of months ago. It made me feel all nostalgic. She started with them on her wall, then she moved them to the door. I'm okay with it, as long as it looks neat. She doesn't have a bulletin board but Gavin does. I think it's a good idea though.

I see what you mean about the cluttered look. I think the oversized cork board is a good idea. I think I mostly put them above my bed, LOL! I had the one with Michael Jackson in the white suit and yellow sweater vest Heart U

My mom was crazy with things always "looking nice". I think that is where my lax attitude comes in with cleaning and stuff. I have boys so I guess I don't have to worry about that yet. I can't wait for the day for a pin up model hanging in their room lol!

I know what we did in our kitchen is used some wire and hang the kids stuff from there with clothes pins so we can rotate it. Looks nicer than them all over the fridge...maybe something like that would work, too?

No posters on the walls-- not a rule there just isn't any... unless you want to count the HUGE Spiderman movie poster that is in a frame behind "glass" over Alex's desk.
Julie has all sorts of odd things on her walls..keys, plaques, jack danials vintage metal sign, her room is very..eclectic.

We never said no to posters but DD never really did that. Now DS has posters on his walls, mostly of cars and hunting stuff. For awhile it was skateboarding but that didn't last too long. We never really minded cause its their rooms. Now if it required putting holes in the all to hang something up they had to clear it with us first. I remember having TONS of magazine pages hanging on my walls as a teenager. Mostly of guys I thought were hot and a few bands. Of course my room was upstairs and no one but my sister and I were ever up there so no one else saw them.

Ellen - I love the idea of the wire. Since we get our nephew one night every week we have tons of pictures he has colored and/or drawn hanging on the fridge. He just loves to color and draw and does a new one almost every time he is over. Sometimes he does two or three in one night.

My daughter never had posters on her wall. Not that we didn't allow it, she just never wanted any. I always had her room decorated and she was involved in the decor so she liked it without posters.
